Tecumseh (Chief of the Beautiful River) 1768-1813 Born a Shawnee and into warfare as Kentuckians were crossing the Ohio River into Indian lands. This struggle took the life of his father and two brothers. The Indians were defeated at Fallen Timber. Tecumseh refused to attend the PeaceTreaty after soldiers gained access to vast areas of Ohio. He broke with the Shawnee chiefs. |
